Chiang Mai must visit places We like North Thailand, but our last visit there was only 3 years ago, after covid restrictions. This time we came to Chiang Mai for 20 days, it was interesting to see how everything changed there.

Compared to our previous visits, Chiang Mai is now much more popular for tourists. There are crowds in the city center, and all prices have increased dramatically. We now living in a hotel not far from the center, and price for average quality room (nothing special) is higher than we paid years ago for beautiful apartments in the tower, with fantastic views to Chiang Mai airport and mountains.

Bike rentals is also not easy. Prices start from 250 thb per day, and they won't make a discount even for long rent, and don't care about customers.

However, this is still a beautiful place. During this visit, we focused on gardens near Chiang Mai.
Yesterday we drove to Doi Suthep, to check how our super old Honda Wave will run in the mountains (unexpectedly, very good! However, we paid for it 1.5x the price than for new keyless PCX 160 in Bali past month).

Here is our video from Doi Suthep:

But our favorite this time is the park, located just in few kilometers from Chiang Mai, Chiang Mai P.A.O. Public Park
Easy to access, with free entrance, a very colorful, relaxing place. Here some photos from there:

Also, new for us, Royal Park Rajapruek. The entrance fee is 200 thb, but you can spend half day there, and use the free electric tram (the territory is huge).

Here big video from there (link to Youtube ):

At this point, we're not sure about the visit to Pai this time. It seems it too much tourist place already

And one more video: "1-day Trip from Chiang Mai: Huai Tueng Lake and Mon Jam".
Huai Tuend Lake is an interesting place, in 10 minutes driving from Chiang Mai. It seems like many locals came here to get lunch, but also there are many sculptures, nice nature, and you can communicate with ships and buffalo.

After about 2 hours in this lake, we went to Mon Jam (the second part of this video). It is a beautiful place in Mae Rim mountains, in the same direction from Chiang Mai (also the direction to Pai). SUddenly we found blowing sakura (in December!!), beautiful mountain views, and found ourselves in a local holiday with music and locals, weared for celebration. Steep road for our old rented bike, but we didn't regret!
